Future Cell Phone Technology

We could write an entire novel about the future of cell phone technology as the development in this area will continue for a significant amount of time. From prepaid cell phones to unlimited data plans, the mobile communications have certainly come a long way in the last two decades; especially if we have a look at those gigantic phones that some of us used to carry around back in the late 80s and early 90s. Soon after that, mobile/cell phones started getting smaller and lighter and now the emphasis is on the smartphone technology.

You wouldn’t be wrong considering a smartphone a mini laptop because the ones running on Android, Windows Phone, Symbian, iOS or other mobile operating systems can do a lot of the things that a normal computer can do. As for the future, we will probably see more online service integrated into our handsets along with more powerful hardware.

We should expect to see improved voice recognition capabilities in the near future, along with the implementation of holographic 3D technology which will provide us with a tridimensional experience without the glasses. In addition, the resolutions of the displays will continue to grow, even though we have already reached 720p which in the opinion of many is already overkill for a screen that measures 5 inches.

Speaking of the screen, future cell phone technologies will certainly include flexible screens as we already saw some concepts from Nokia and Samsung that had one. In addition, Sony has also researched this technology and as soon as the price for this feature will go down in the future, cell phone manufacturers will certainly roll out such handsets.

Some of the other technologies that cell phones will benefit from will be nanotechnology and translucent photonic circuitry. The first one will allow our smartphones to do tasks like scanning food for harmful toxins, while the other one could help the development of a phone that is a translucent block with a high resolution screen which takes all its necessary energy from the surrounding environment.

Of course, these are only just a few technologies that cell phones will benefit from. Who knows what is going on in the research center of top manufacturers like Sony, Apple, Samsung and the rest of the big names in the business. The technology in this domain has advanced tremendously in the last few years and the rate of progress doesn’t seem to slow down at all.
